These PowerPoint slides describe basic concepts relating to the Persons with Disabilities Rights and Protection Act, 2013. You can use these slides as part of your trainings and awareness-raising events to help explain how the DPO movement advocated for this Act in order to implement the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, what disabilities are covered by the Act, how the Act defines and prohibits disability-based discrimination, the enumerated rights recognized by the Act, what committees are established to implement the Act’s provisions, how to file applications for compensation to district committees under Section 36 of the Act if an enumerated right is violated, and what kinds of conduct are criminalized under Section 37 of the Act.
